We've joined a free mining pool (bitcoinpool).

Anyone realise the Bitcoin exchange at Mt.Gox crashed yesterday? It was crazy, the value dropped for USD$17.5 to around 10 cents when I checked. Apparently went down to as low as 1 cent... Alot of sellers panic sold, I purchased a few (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You purchased at 1 cent?
They were hacked, theyre back up now. Rolled back all exchanges so its back up to $17.50

QUOTE
MtGox got hacked, like, seriously hacked. Everyone's account is online, a full listing of every login, e-mail, and hashed passwords.

The following statement has been made by MtGox:

Huge Bitcoin sell off due to a compromised account rollback

The bitcoin will be back to around 17.5$/BTC after we rollback all trades that have happened after the huge Bitcoin sale that happened on June 20th near 3:00am (JST).

Service should be back by June 20th 11:00am (JST, 02:00am GMT) with all the trades reversed and accounts available.

One account with a lot of coins was compromised and whoever stole it (using a HK based IP to login) first sold all the coins in there, to buy those again just after, and then tried to withdraw the coins. The $1000/day withdraw limit was active for this account and the hacker could only get out with $1000 worth of coins.

Apart from this no account was compromised, and nothing was lost. Due to the large impact this had on the Bitcoin market, we will rollback every trade which happened since the big sale, and ensure this account is secure before opening access again.

UPDATE REGARDING LEAKED ACCOUNT INFORMATIONS

We will address this issue too and prevent logins from each users. Leaked information includes username, email and hashed password, which does not allow anyone to get to the actual password, should it be complex enough. If you used a simple password you will not be able to login on Mt.Gox until you change your password to something more secure. If you used the same password on different places, it is recommended to change it as soon as possible.

IF YOU USED THE SAME PASSWORD ON OUR SITE OR ANY OTHER SITE, YOU NEED TO CHANGE IT RIGHT NOW!!

hopefully this will reduce the number of miners. Resulting in a decreased difficulty.

No I purchased when the value was around $10 USD but my transaction got rolled back. Looks like if I am serious about this I will need to buy a new graphics card.... I might purchase an 6870/6970 for skyrim so it might be a good investment if I bitcoin mine with it... Keep us posted on your progress guys.

I just gave up on it. I can't seem to get anymore than .03-.04 BTC per round, and with some rounds lasting 12+ hours it sucks. Also, It's hard to get any shares when this dude is eating them all up: http://www.bitcoinpool.com/index.php?do=us...e&id=Net151

It seems, like the site has issues reporting on the length of rounds. The timer sometimes goes up at 20hrs, but theyve in fact solved 4 blocks. It needs manual updating.
I just bought another 5870 to crossfire. Although with the difficulty increasing I'm not sure if this will all be worth it lol.

So no luck, then? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

Are those 3 years of mining worth the electricity bill?

Just curious, because i read you need to keep running your PC 24/7 to get "even". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
